Saturday, May 13, 2017, is the 25th National Association of Letter Carriers food drive to stamp out hunger … one bag at a time. Rising Hope United Methodist Mission Church participates in this national endeavor receiving food the Post Office Letter Carriers pick up from the door steps where the mail is delivered. This is our single largest food drive donation we receive all year. Melissa Lee, Rising Hope’s food pantry coordinator says, “This showcases where the community comes together on one nationally recognized day to help provide for others. The more the community participates the more the needy are helped.”

To make this food drive successful at Rising Hope Mission Church, we are in need of volunteers on May 13th, between the hours of 2:00 – 6:00 pm to help pick up food donations, unload the trucks and stack the shelves. If you want to volunteer, please contact Melissa at 703-360-1976 or email mlee@risinghopeumc.org.

Please don’t forget to put food on your door step that day and please remember that even though food donations and volunteers are needed on this day, we at Rising Hope Mission Church also need volunteers every week to meet our normal weekly distribution of food to 175-350 families in our community. Thank you for your help and support as we try to stamp out hunger to all … every day of the year.
