Response and Recovery happens on five levels at once: Conference-wide
efforts, work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), district response and recovery, local church efforts, and
community support. Disaster response and recovery is one of the ways we can show the love and be the hands, feet, and face
of Jesus in the efforts we make in the community and around the world.

TRAINING:
Update - February 1, 2011: United Methodist Volunteers
in Mission (UMVIM) Team Leader Training is changing its registration process. The cost will be $50 to be paid when you register.
The fee covers the cost of the handbook, meal, refreshments, and handouts. Handbooks will be at the training sessions for
those who have preregistered.
Registering for the team leader training has not changed.
Go to the Virginia Conference website to find a list of trainings available. Click on the location to register and prepay.
More training will be scheduled at a later date.

Northern Virginia (Bi-District) Collaboration Effort for Emergency Response Team (ERT) Members Scheduled for Sept. 15!
UMCOR's
(United Methodist Committee on Relief) policy changes now require volunteers to be certified and respond in groups of seven
trained individuals at a minimum. If your church cannot staff your own team, come to an organizational meeting to help
identify other locally trained church members who are willing to work together for the greater good.
