Arlington District UMM Annual Meeting

Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop

The Lewis Center for Church Leadership presents its annual Funding Your Congregation's Vision conference.

March 20, 9 AM-12:45 PM, Glen Mar United Methodist Church, Ellicott City, MD. Building on the Lewis Center's past work in funding ministry, this year's event will explore a number of new subject areas. Further details and registration information for the half-day workshop will be available in January. Lewis Center website.

Bi-District Lenten Retreat
March 27, 12:30-4:30 PM: St. Matthew's UMC, Annandale. Come and prepare for holy week: walk the Labyrinth, connect through a variety of Body Prayers, Prayer Stations and other offerings.

Training for prospective foster and adopted parents at UMFS.

April 6-May 11, 6-9 PM: UMFS Regional Center is offering training for persons interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Training is at the UMFS RegionalCenter (Lincolnia UMC), 6335 Little River Turnpike, Annandale. For more details, please call the UMFS Northern Virginia Regional Center at 703-941-9008, ext. 308.

Clergy/Laity Event with Dr. N. Graham Standish for Arlington District Clergy and Laity. Alexandria District Clergy and Laity are also welcome to attend.

April 21, 2010 - 8:30 AM-4 PM Clergy, 6:30 PM-9 PM Laity, Pender UMC, Fairfax. Join Dr. Standish for "Putting Spirit Back in Church." Dr. Standish is the author of several books, including his best-selling, "Becoming a Blessed Church."  The seminars will explore why some churches atrophy due to loss of spiritual vibrancy, andhow to restore said vibrancy.

*$10 lunch reservation for the clergy session must be received by the District Office by Fri., Apr. 9 (make checks payable to Arlington District Clergy Association and mail it to 5001 Echols Ave., Alexandria, VA 22311).

Arlington District Clergy Retreat
Sept. 14-16, 2010, at PriestField Pastoral Center in Kearneysville, West Virginia, “Prayer and Discernment in Pastoral Leadership.”  The retreat leader will be the Rev. Marjorie J. Thompson of Nashville, TN, author of Soul Feast:  An Invitation to the Christian Spiritual Life and one of the co-authors of the Companions in Christ spiritual formation resource from Upper Room Ministries.
