The Wedding Covenant: Ketubah

by admin

I hope you will allow me a “proud parent” moment.  My son, Chris, was married on Oct. 10th to his fiancee, Becky at a children’s camp in the Shenandoah Valley.  They touched my heart by asking me to make them a “ketubah” modeled after the Jewish and Quaker traditions of having a wedding covenant that […]

Excuse Me, Where’s My Certificate?

by admin

Our Charge Conferences are in full swing and we’ve completed over one third of them at this point.  As we focus on our charge conference theme of “Membership to Discipleship,” I like to ask the attendees if they’ve ever received a Discipleship Certificate.  After all, we give out certificates for baptism, confirmation, church membership, course […]

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Charge Conference season has begun!  I am very hopeful that this fall, we will be able to have meaningful “holy conferencing” around our theme:   “From Members to Disciples.”  This summer, I met with each and every pastor (all 76 of you!) to talk about what God had put on […]

INM – Goal Exceeded!

by admin

Arlington District,   If you saw Bishop Cho’s letter, you know that the Imagine No Malaria campaign just went over the top and surpassed its goal of 100,000 lives saved. Thanks to you and congregations {and District Offices!) across Virginia, we have together raised $1,005,364.30 to end malaria.    What’s more, our Arlington District surpassed its own goal. […]
